Another spring pro football season is coming to a close, and former Tiger standouts are key again to a championship run.

The San Antonio Brahmas and Birmingham Stallions emerged for the UFL Championship after wins over the weekend. The league features the merged versions of the recent spring startups in the USFL and the XFL.

Amari Rodgers caught a lead-changing 7-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter and Deon Cain tied for the team lead in receptions (3) for 19 yards, also returning a kick for 39 yards (plus a solo tackle), in the 31-18 Birmingham comeback win over the Michigan Panthers on Saturday.

In the regular season, Cain tallied 33 catches for 436 yards and three touchdowns, as well as a 20 yards per kick return average.

The former Green Bay Packers third-round pick Rodgers posted 14 catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the regular season.

This edition of the Birmingham Stallions is going for a third league title in as many years after the twin USFL Championships in 2022 and 2023. Cain was the 2023 USFL championship game MVP with three touchdown catches.

The UFL finale will air on FOX at 5 p.m. on Sunday at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis.
