This may be a stretch but in some ways, JJ Spaun's success somewhat equals that of Coastal baseball. JJ always had the talent or he would not have his name on his bag and be on tour. Coastal's players always had talent or they would not be playing D1 ball.
JJ had to work his hands raw hitting thousands of ball to get to where he is as one of the best players in the world. The Coastal kids had to work their tails off in high school to get good enough to play big time baseball.
Maybe the biggest part of JJ Spaun's success was the mental aspect and learning that he could compete with and beat the big boys. The mental aspect also applies to Coastal and certainly with one National Championship and well on the way to another, they had to learn they could compete with the big boys.
So, we have players with talent, players that work and players that think they can compete with the big boys. The question is, do we work as hard a Coastal when we play them? Do we mentally prepare to be successful enough against every team we play? We say at the golf course to play well and give luck a chance and hopefully our baseball players are working hard enough and have a strong enough belief system to win at every level.
